Technology

When choosing a dentist, most people think about the provider and the location. What fewer people weigh upfront is the equipment — and yet the tools your dentist uses directly affect how accurately problems get diagnosed, how comfortable your appointment feels, and how long your results hold up. Outdated technology means more guesswork, more appointments, and more time in the chair. Modern dental technology gives your provider a clearer picture from the start and often lets your care happen in fewer visits.

At Spring St. Dental, we invest in technology because it consistently produces better outcomes for patients. Our dental services in Bastrop are built around tools our team has trained to use effectively. Whether you are coming in for a routine cleaning or a complete restoration, the technology supporting your care is working alongside your provider from the first scan through the final appointment.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns and Restorations

One of the most impactful tools in our practice is the CEREC system — a CAD/CAM platform that designs and mills ceramic crowns, inlays, and onlays entirely chairside. The older path to a crown required two appointments, a temporary restoration, and a waiting period while a lab fabricated your permanent piece. With CEREC, we capture a digital scan of your tooth, design the restoration on-screen, mill it from high-quality ceramic, and place it in a single visit.

For patients who cannot easily take multiple days off, who find temporary restorations uncomfortable, or who simply want their dental work completed efficiently, this changes the experience in a meaningful way. Our CEREC same-day crowns are shaded to match your natural teeth and crafted in-house — no lab wait, no second appointment for most cases.

3D Cone Beam CT Imaging

A standard two-dimensional X-ray tells part of the story. A 3D cone beam CT scan — CBCT — tells the rest. CBCT captures your teeth, jawbone density, sinus structures, nerve pathways, and surrounding tissue in a single volumetric scan. According to the American Dental Association, CBCT imaging enables dentists to gather a comprehensive baseline record and virtually plan treatments that could not be fully assessed with 2D radiographs alone.

We use this imaging before computer-guided implant placements, for evaluating complex clinical situations, and whenever a patient’s anatomy requires more data than a standard film provides. It means fewer surprises during treatment and more accurate planning from the outset.

Digital Impressions and Intraoral Cameras

Traditional bite trays have their place, but digital impression scanning is quicker, more comfortable for most patients, and produces highly accurate 3D models of your dentition and bite. Our intraoral cameras work alongside our imaging system — when something in your mouth warrants closer attention, we can show it to you on screen in real time rather than simply describing what we see.

That visibility is intentional. Patients who can see what their provider is looking at tend to make more informed decisions about their care. We build time into appointments to walk patients through their records and answer questions before any treatment begins.

Sterilization and Patient Safety Standards

Every instrument and surface in our operatories is prepared according to strict sterilization protocols between each appointment. We follow and exceed infection control guidelines established by the CDC and OSHA. Any patient who wants a detailed walkthrough of our specific sterilization process is welcome to ask — our team is glad to explain it.

Sedation Options for Anxious Patients

Technology and a calm environment work together. Some patients experience real anxiety around dental visits, and that anxiety often leads to years of avoidance — turning manageable situations into larger ones. Our practice offers sedation dentistry for patients who need additional support to feel comfortable in the chair. The most precise equipment is only useful when the patient can get through the appointment at ease, and we take that seriously.

Questions About Our Technology at Spring St. Dental

The practical effect of investing in current dental technology is fewer surprises, fewer appointments, and greater confidence in your care. If you have questions about any of the systems we use — how a specific tool affects your treatment, what CBCT imaging involves, or whether same-day milling is right for your restoration — we welcome the conversation. Our team is happy to explain what each piece of technology does and why we chose it.
